Learning The Value of a Dollar
My 2nd grade son and I have collaborated to work out a curriculum that works for him and his homeschooling structure. He is wild and energetic, yet curious about everything. He has so many wants and dreams and wishes. They usually cost more money that he has at the moment...so I'm trying to teach him the value of a dollar. If he wants a toy, he can earn the money it costs. If he wants a new game, he can raise the money.
We have been using materials from Educents and other companies to help in his lessons--but they have some fun stuff, too. He LOVES the Minecraft Coding Program. We have been working on money and where it comes from and how quickly it spends, and he decided he wanted to buy a couple things from Educents.
EARN
To teach him the value of the dollar, I told him I would write a blog and ask my followers to purchase some of their education materials from his affiliate link so that he could earn some money for it... but he had to blog with me to do it. He hates writing, but loves the idea of earning money.
Work
Work for your money. It takes time to earn a dollar and every click he gets on his link that leads to a purchase of educational materials, he earns cash towards buying his program. So he figured out that he had to do some work to get some cash. While he hates writing, he understood that doing it quickly might bring him better results than dreading and worrying about writing. He came up with some good points...check it out
